New Head of Copenhagen Plant Science Centre

Dario Leister has resigned, and Poul Erik Jensen has been appointed new Head of CPSC from 1 April. The centre is now entering a new phase with focus on facilitating collaboration as well as attracting even more funding and international profiles.

Dario Leister resigns as Head of CPSC

Since 2013 Dario Leister has been heading the process of laying the foundation of Copenhagen Plant Science Centre. From 31 March Dario Leister will leave CPSC to return full time to his position at LMU in Munich. He will still be connected to CPSC through a strong scientific collaboration with several of the members of CPSC.

“Dario Leister has been a vital part of recruiting four young investigators and defining the research of CPSC. He has worked diligently at establishing the research groups financed by the CPSC Lighthouse grants. His ambition has been to establish CPSC as a highly visible entity internationally and to put CPSC on the track of excellence in terms of research, and he has been pivotal in formulating the vision and mission of CPSC,” says Svend Christensen, Head of Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences.

Poul Erik Jensen will be the new Head of CPSC

The function as Head of CPSC will be taken over by the current Vice-head of CPSC, Poul Erik Jensen from Section for Molecular Plant Biology at Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (PLEN).

“As Vice-Head of CPSC since 2013 Poul Erik Jensen is deeply engaged in all activities of the centre. He has an extensive network among plant scientists at the University of Copenhagen as well as beyond. He also has a broad knowledge of the funding system and is already involved in many of the CPSC funding applications. So I am certain Poul Erik Jensen is the right choice since the centre will now enter a consolidation phase with increasingly focus on attracting even more external funding as well as international profiles, and not least strengthening the cross-disciplinary collaborations among plant scientists at the University of Copenhagen further,” says Svend Christensen.

Poul Erik Jensen will start as Head of CPSC on 1 April 2016.
It will be marked with a reception 15 April at 3 pm at Thorvaldsensvej 40, 1871 Frederiksberg C, room H117, K117 and M117 (on the 1st floor).
Everybody is welcome.
