Topping-out ceremony for the new CPSC building

Topping-out ceremony

The first new CPSC building was celebrated on 21 January 2015 with a topping-out ceremony for the workmen arranged by The Danish Building & Property Agency.

The building is being constructed on Bülowsvej at Frederiksberg Campus.

There were speeches by the developer, by the prospective tenant (University of Copenhagen), and by the architect. There were cheers for the building and the workmen and subsequently sausages and bred was served by a hot dog stand.

What is a topping-out ceremony?

According to tradition, the developer must have a feast for the workmen when the rafters of the house are raised. The topping-out ceremony includes everyone who is helping to build the house.

The feast is normally held in the afternoon when the workday is over and typically everybody meets in the new building for sandwiches or sausages, beer and soft drinks.

During the event it is customary with speeches by the developer, the architect and the master of the workmen speaks.
